Posted by Mumbai: Autodesk has announced the launch of local data storage in India, enabling businesses and public sector organisations to manage and store project data securely within the country. The new localised data offerings, provides customers with the ability to store and manage project data locally.
This initiative supports the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat vision and reinforces Autodesk’s commitment to advancing the nation’s digital infrastructure.
Customers using Autodesk Docs, BIM Collaborate, and BIM Collaborate Pro can now select India as their primary location for local data storage. This development provides greater control and security, especially for regulated sectors such as infrastructure, government, and utilities.
Autodesk’s 2025 State of Design & Make report highlights that digital transformation is driving ROI in AECO (architecture, engineering, construction and operations) industries by 50% in key areas like productivity, innovation and customer satisfaction.
However, 37% of organisations in India express lack of trust in tools due to issues like data security. The India regional offering addresses this concern by unlocking access to secure cloud collaboration tools with regional storage.
“India is at a pivotal moment in its digital transformation journey, where the convergence of infrastructure growth and data-driven innovation is reshaping industries,” said Kamolika Peres Gupta, VP – India and SAARC, Autodesk. “The newly introduced local data storage option will empower businesses and public institutions to harness cloud-powered design and construction while maintaining international standards of data integrity and performance.”
Gupta added, “India is a strategic growth market for Autodesk. This launch reiterates our commitment to supporting the nation’s digital-first ambitions with tailored solutions.”
This local data storage capability is supported by Amazon Web Services. “Autodesk is meeting the growing demand for data residency while delivering the performance, security, and scalability professionals require,” said Colin Lazier, VP of Databases – AWS.
India now joins other regions including the United States, European Union, and Japan in accessing Autodesk’s global local data storage options. In June 2025, Autodesk also introduced localised BIM solutions tailored for India’s infrastructure needs, aimed at building smarter, more sustainable developments.
