Posted by Brooklyn, USA – Mumbai, India: Google launched the latest Pixel 10 series during its flagsip event – Made by Google held in Brooklyn, NewYork on August 20. The launch of Pixel 10 series of smartphones includes the standard Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
The new Pixel 10 Pro XL is the clearest embodiment of that vision, led by the custom-designed Tensor G5 chip and deeply integrated Gemini AI features.
Built entirely by Google and fabricated by TSMC, the Tensor G5 chip delivers faster performance and enhanced power efficiency. But more importantly, Google has tuned it specifically for AI, enabling on-device intelligence with Gemini Nano and powering a suite of new features that respond in real time, intelligently and securely
“Google used its Made by Google event to make one thing clear, the Pixel lineup and Android itself, is now primarily a platform for its advancing AI,” said Anisha Bhatia, Senior Technology Analyst – GlobalData.
“Hardware specs took a back seat as Google showcased Gemini and the agent-driven features built on it. Most of the six product announcements are funnelled toward the same message — Gemini is everywhere,” added Bhatia.
That message comes through clearly in the Pixel 10 series. From Magic Cue, which surfaces just the right message details when you need them, to Camera Coach, offering step-by-step photo guidance, these are not just features, but intelligent agents that actively assist.
Other highlights include real-time voice translation that keeps the original speaker’s voice, voice-driven image editing in Google Photos, and Gemini Live integration with the new Pixel Buds Pro for contextual, hands-free help. Buyers of the Pixel 10 Pro XL also receive a year’s subscription to Google’s AI Pro service, normally $19.99/month, at no extra cost.
“The Pixel 10 series is engineered to highlight these AI capabilities. The Pixel 10, 10 Pro and Pro XL pack meaningful hardware upgrades, a new triple-camera system with a 5x telephoto, a Tensor G5 chipset tuned for AI and durability claims that double the Pixel 8,” commented Bhatia.
With its full-stack control over software and hardware, Google is now building experiences that go beyond the smartphone. The company confirmed plans to expand Gemini to other form factors, including smart glasses, and eventually to vehicles, TVs, speakers and displays.
As Bhatia noted that this launch also directly targeted iPhone users, addressing barriers to switching with easier data transfers and inclusive messaging via RCS. While the Pixel hasn’t yet shifted market dynamics, its growing arsenal of AI-driven features may finally offer a reason to reconsider.
With the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Google isn’t just releasing another smartphone, it’s setting the stage for an AI-first platform built around its own chip, software and vision for what mobile computing should be.
