Gurugram: Direct-to-consumer eyewear brand Lenskart has announced a strategic investment in Ajna Lens, a Mumbai-based deep tech startup building AI-powered XR (extended reality) solutions. The move signals Lenskart’s deeper commitment to the rapidly growing smart glasses category.

Founded in 2014, Ajna Lens, a XR startup headquartered in Thane, is known for developing advanced spatial computing technologies and mixed reality hardware. Its flagship product, AjnaXR, earned a CES Innovation Award in 2023 and is recognized as one of the most sophisticated mixed reality headsets in the industry.

Lenskart plans to integrate its design and engineering capabilities with Ajna Lens’s immersive tech stack to co-develop consumer-friendly smart glasses. The collaboration’s aim is at making next-gen eyewear more accessible and better aligned with everyday lifestyle needs.

“We have been leveraging technology to create distinctive and meaningful eyewear experiences for our customers,” said Peyush Bansal, Co-Founder and CEO of Lenskart.

“This investment marks the next chapter in our Smart Glass journey, which began with the launch of Phonic, our audio glasses, in December 2024. As the Smart Glasses category scales rapidly, our partnership with Ajna Lens strategically positions us to accelerate product innovation in this space,” added Bansal.

While commercial terms were not disclosed, the partnership is expected to drive faster go-to-market timelines for future products in the smart wearables space. Lenskart’s presence in 14 countries and its strong omnichannel infrastructure will also provide valuable consumer insights to inform product development.

This strategic alignment comes at a time when the lines between consumer electronics and fashion accessories are increasingly blurring, with companies racing to bring intelligence and connectivity into everyday wearables.
