Mumbai: As tech companies, enterprises, and businesses observe the National Technology Day 2025 today, it is interesting to know and understand what it means to CTOs in these organisations across sectors.

CTOs, or Chief Technology Officers, are the key designated top executives responsible for empowering their organisations with diverse technology deployments and use to meet business needs.

For REA India, a full-stack real estate technology platform (owner of Housing.com and PropTiger.com), it’s about doing more with less.

Doing more with less – using technology

“We believe true innovation lies in doing more with less – using technology not just to grow, but to grow responsibly,” says REA India CTO Abhishek Makkar. “On National Technology Day, we reaffirm our commitment to building a future that’s efficient, inclusive, and sustainable.”

To uphold this commitment, Makkar informs that REA India has migrated workloads to energy-efficient cloud infrastructure and embedded carbon visibility into the company’s engineering decisions. “We have redesigned offices for smarter energy use and are constantly working to shrink our footprint,” he adds.

Generative AI and automation have amplified productivity across teams while reducing resource consumption. And with green coding practices, data efficiency reviews, and AI-powered simulations, we’re ensuring every system we build is lean by design,” states Makkar.

Sustainable progress

While REA India’s mantra is ‘doing more with less’ using technology, for IT services firm Visionet Systems, the goal is about achieving ‘sustainable progress’ by leveraging tech innovation.

“On this National Technology Day, we would like to highlight how innovation is helping us make sustainable progress,” says Visionet Systems India MD and Global CTO Sandeep Agarwal. “We see this sustainability readiness as a defining moment. We are embracing an AI-first approach to drive this change.”

While emphasizing the role of AI and its positive impact on sustainability, Agarwal cited an IBM survey of Indian IT leaders published in November 2024. The survey has noted that 96% of leaders believe AI will positively impact sustainability.

In a bid to achieve this ‘sustainable progress,’ the company recently launched ‘AI Now’ campaign that enabled more than its 2300 employees to gain GenAI experience and become AI fluent. “Supporting this is our in-house AI Lab where we innovate, develop custom AI, and automate industries for a sustainable future,” informs Agarwal.

Sustainable and responsible future

For digital engineering company Virtusa, it is about leveraging technology for a sustainable and responsible future. “On National Technology Day 2025, we celebrate the power of technology to build a more sustainable and responsible future,” says Virtusa Corporation’s CTO Ram Meenakshisundaram.

“We are focused on harnessing cutting-edge innovation to solve today’s most pressing business and environmental challenges,” adds Meenakshisundaram.

Leveraging advanced capabilities in AI, cloud, and data analytics, the company enables other organisations to boost efficiency and sustainability. “We remain committed to using technology as a force for positive change and a catalyst for long-term impact,” Meenakshisundaram notes.

Celebrating India’s journey and success in the tech domain

Interestingly, these CTOs and their organisations are following a theme around technology and sustainability to observe National Technology Day 2025. However, for Comviva, a Tech Mahindra company, National Technology Day means celebrating India’s success and rise in technological innovation.

“On this National Technology Day, we celebrate India’s extraordinary journey in becoming a global hub for technological innovation,” says Comviva’s Chief Strategy, Technology, and Transformation Officer (CSTTO), Raja Mansukhani.

“Over the past decade, India has witnessed a surge in entrepreneurial spirit, with a thriving startup ecosystem and a bold embrace of emerging technologies such as AI/ML, Blockchain, and IoT. These advancements have firmly established India as a key player in shaping the global tech landscape,” adds Mansukhani.

Indeed, Comviva’s innovation-led approach aligns with India’s development vision through the development of its people.

“We believe that true innovation stems from empowered people and transformative ideas,” states Mansukhani. “That’s why we are deeply committed to nurturing local talent, partnering with leading universities to equip the next generation with hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies.”

“In an increasingly connected and digital-first world, we remain focused on making technology more human-centric, impactful, and inclusive,” concludes Mansukhani.

However, there are other organisations and CTOs as well that cherish the dawn of India’s prowess in technological innovation. “We’re proud to be a product built in India for the world—proof that world-class tech can rise from here and scale everywhere,” says Contentstack Co-Founder and CTO Nishant Patel.

“On National Technology Day, we honour the spirit of innovation that put India on the global tech map and celebrate the builders shaping the future with the same ambition and resolve,” adds Patel.

Like Patel, Suhora Technologies’ Co-Founder and CTO Rupesh Kumar says, “As we celebrate National Technology Day, we honour India’s remarkable journey in science and technology and its growing leadership on the global innovation map.”

“With India’s downstream space sector projected to reach USD 610 billion by 2031, we believe homegrown AI-driven innovations will be key to addressing such critical challenges and reinforcing the nation’s vision of technology-led inclusive growth,” emphasizes Kumar.

“National Technology Day is a powerful reminder of how strategic innovation when driven by a clear purpose, can be a game-changer for our nation’s trajectory,” says Fulcrum Digital‘s Chief AI Officer (CAIO) Sachin Panicker. “At Fulcrum Digital, we view this day as reaffirming our mission to harness the convergence of AI, cloud computing, and emerging technologies to drive enterprise transformation.”

On National Technology Day 2025, India’s CTOs champion a vision where technology transcends innovation to foster sustainable, inclusive progress. Through lean innovation, pioneering AI, green practices, and talent empowerment, they are leveraging technology toward purposeful, global leadership.
