Posted by Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh: Under a strategic partnership, CEL and ESDS to set up a Green Data Centre at CEL (Central Electronics Limited) campus located in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh (UP). This upcoming modern infrastructure aims to strengthen data security, transparency, and service delivery for citizens in UP state.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) laid the foundation stone for CEL-ESDS Green Data Centre in Sahibabad on Friday.
“This data centre would not only enhance Uttar Pradesh’s digital capabilities but also serve as a decisive step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat,” UP CM Yogi Adityanath said during the ceremony. He emphasized that the initiative will generate employment for youth and contribute to India’s journey towards digital sovereignty.
CEL, a Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE, felt the need for a high-performance, energy efficient, secure data centre, aligned with India’s digital, self-reliant and environmental goals. This need let to the planning of a Green Data Centre at its Sahibabad campus.
CEL and ESDS to set up Green Data Centre

The Green Data Centre at our Sahibabad campus is a strategic leap into digital infrastructure, designed to be energy-efficient, secure, and future-ready,” said Chetan Prakash Jain, Chairman and MD of Central Electronics Limited (CEL).
“Through our collaboration with ESDS, we are merging sustainability with advanced cloud and data centre technologies to support India’s digital and environmental priorities. With modular PODs, smart cooling, and a 30 MW capacity, this facility will serve as a vital engine for Uttar Pradesh’s digital economy and India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission,” added Jain
With Uttar Pradesh being fast emerging as a hub of digital infrastructure, CEL’s Green Data Centre will boost this momentum by creating skilled jobs, promoting local innovation, and attracting startups, enterprises, and government users.
In terms of performance, sustainability and security, the facility will offer — modular PODs (performance optimized data centre) for high-density computing, 30 MW capacity and scalable to 200 racks per floor.
Besides, it will have smart cooling and reflective roofing, rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient design, 40 Gbps ring fibre with multi-ISP support and dual 10 Gbps links for cloud and DR replication.

This data centre is designed to be Tier III/TIA/Uptime Compliant, with 200 high-density racks per floor, 30 MW capacity, and 40 Gbps connectivity,” said Piyush Somani, CMD and CEO, ESDS Software Solution Ltd.
