Murali Swaminathan joins Freshworks as CTO

Chennai: Freshworks, a cloud-based SaaS company has announced that Murali Swaminathan will join the company in the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

As CTO, Swaminathan will be responsible for Freshworks’ technology roadmap and strategy, leading the global engineering and architecture teams. This role supports the company’s investment in talent and resources that will elevate employee and customer experience solutions.

Swaminathan joins the executive management team and will report to CEO and President Dennis Woodside. With over three decades of experience in software engineering and management, Swaminathan brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure products.

He joins Freshworks from ServiceNow, where he served as VP of Engineering, overseeing the company’s market-leading IT Service Management and Strategic Portfolio Management products.

During his tenure at ServiceNow, Murali was instrumental in building the modern application architecture that underpins the company’s IT Service Management and Strategic Portfolio Management products. Before ServiceNow, Murali served as VP of Engineering, Recommind (now OpenText).

Before that, he held several key positions at CA Technologies (now part of Broadcom Inc.), where he played a critical role in advancing the company’s enterprise software solutions. He holds a master’s degree in Software Engineering Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation from Annamalai University in India.
