Bengaluru: Revenue management software provider Optiva Inc. has set up an R&D Centre of Excellence in India’s hi-tech city of Bengaluru.

The Toronto Stock Exchange-listed company chose Bengaluru for its reputation as a thriving technology centre and hub of global software companies, universities and talent. The company has already appointed a local leadership team in India.

With the new centre in place, Optiva plans to increase its headcount of high-calibre engineers across a number of disciplines.

Optiva’s move to set up a new centre comes at a time when the telecom market is looking towards disaggregating software from network hardware. And taking the help of software companies for delivering innovation on service provider networks.

Against this backdrop, Optiva intends to lead the innovations in the Business Support Systems (BSS) space, allowing its service provider customers to improve their customer experience, address new markets and drive profitability.

The Optiva leadership team is weighing on R&D-led innovation to drive the company’s growth strategy. It has already tripled the size of its R&D team over the past 12 months.

The Bengaluru facility follows Optiva’s opening of an R&D Centre of Excellence in Belfast, Northern Ireland, last year.

“Our Centres of Excellence and the growth of our R&D team demonstrate long-term commitment to our customers and employees,” said Matt Halligan, CTO – Optiva.

“We are proud to invest in innovation that will transform mission-critical BSS services, enable agile business velocity and accelerate operators’ business success in today’s and future emerging markets,” added Halligan.
