Posted by Taipei, Taiwan: Solid State Storage Technology Corporation (SSSTC) has launched its SSSTC CA8 Series, the world’s first industrial M.2 solid-state drive (SSD) with BiCS FLASH generation 8 3D flash memory technology and a PCIe Gen5 x4 interface.
SSSTC offers the CA8 Series in the standard M.2 2280 form factor, with storage capacities of 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB. Fully compliant with PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 specifications, the CA8 Series delivers ultra-high-speed data transfer with per-lane rates of up to 32 GT/s, effectively doubling the throughput compared to PCIe 4.0.
With support for SLC caching, the CA8 Series achieves sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 12,000 MB/s. It also delivers random read and write performance of up to 2,000K IOPS and 1,600K IOPS respectively, positioning it among the fastest industrial SSDs currently available.
At the heart of the CA8 Series lies KIOXIA’s 8th generation BiCS FLASH 218-layer 3D TLC NAND Flash Memory, which integrates CMOS directly Bonded to Array (CBA) wafer bonding technology. This advancement improves write performance by 20%, reduces read latency by more than 10 per cent, and enhances power efficiency by up to 30%. These improvements make the CA8 Series particularly well suited for data-intensive edge computing and high-performance industrial workloads.
SSSTC has designed the CA8 Series to ensure long-term reliability and compatibility across a wide range of systems. The drive offers a mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeding three million hours, operates within a wide temperature range of 0 to 85 degrees Celsius, and provides a supply lifespan of 5 to 10 years.
The CA8 Series delivers the endurance and consistent performance needed for demanding use cases such as AIoT, factory automation, networking, in-vehicle systems, and edge servers, particularly those involving Edge AI workloads.
To enhance data integrity and system resilience, SSSTC includes several advanced features in the CA8 Series. These include high-performance error correction code (ECC), Power Loss Notification (PLN) to help prevent data corruption during unexpected shutdowns, and AES-256 encryption with TCG Opal support for secure data protection.
As a subsidiary of KIOXIA, SSSTC remains committed to providing stable, high-performance SSD solutions for enterprise and industrial applications worldwide. SSSTC expects CA8 Series to enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2025.
