Bengaluru: Chip design might be due for a serious upgrade and city-based startup Maieutic Semiconductor thinks it has the answer. The deep tech startup just raised $4.15 million in seed funding to bring generative AI into the traditionally complex world of analog semiconductor design.
The round was co-led by Endiya Partners and Exfinity Venture Partners, both backing Maieutic’s vision to rewire how analog chips are developed—from the first sketch to tape-out.
🚀 AI Meets Analog: A Copilot for Chip Designers
Unlike digital chip design, analog IC (integrated circuit) design still relies heavily on manual workflows, expert reviews, and time-consuming trade-off decisions. Maieutic is taking a GenAI-first approach to accelerate those early stages—essentially creating a smart “copilot” that can assist engineers, flag inconsistencies, and shorten development cycles from weeks to days.
“Semiconductor design has remained largely untouched by modern productivity enhancements,” said Gireesh Rajendran, CEO and Co-Founder of Maieutic Semiconductor.
“We’re combining decades of deep analog and semiconductor experience with cutting-edge AI techniques to create a copilot that reduces the design cycle from weeks to days, spots inconsistencies without expert intervention, and brings intelligence to every trade-off,” added Rajendran.
Rajendran previously led Steradian Semiconductors, a radar tech company acquired after gaining traction in the automotive space. Now, he and Maieutic’s core team—which includes Ashish Lachhwani (CBO), Rakesh Kumar (CPO), and Krishna Sankar (CTO)—are setting out to do the same for chip design. Collectively, the team holds 70+ patents and has helped ship products that sold over a billion units worldwide.
“Maieutic is solving a real problem in the semiconductor design space, an area that has long resisted automation despite its growing complexity,” said Sateesh Andra, Managing Partner of Endiya Partners. “Analog workflows in particular have remained largely manual and dependent on domain expertise and time-intensive iteration.”
“Maieutic’s AI-first approach has the potential to change that. The founding team has both deep technical expertise and years of experience in taking products to market,” stated Andra.
🔧 What’s Next?
With this funding, Maieutic plans to expand its engineering team, scale its AI platform, and bring its technology to market faster. Hiring is in full swing, and the company is laser-focused on its first big use case: analog ICs for next-gen communications, automotive, and industrial electronics.
While the semiconductor world has seen AI applied to verification and testing, Maieutic’s approach—starting at the design phase—could mark a major shift in how chips are conceptualised and built. Analog chips power everything from 5G radios to EV power systems. If Maieutic succeeds, it could drastically cut development timelines and lower costs in a field where delays and complexity are the norm.
