Posted by Las Vegas, USA: Semiconductor giant Qualcomm and Microsoft are gearing up to expand the AR ecosystem.
Qualcomm with its custom AR chips and Snapdragon Spaces XR Developer Platform and Microsoft with its Mesh software are seeing common grounds to work closely in the AR space.
In fact, Qualcomm has announced a collaboration with Microsoft early this week at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
This collaboration between Qualcomm and Microsoft aims to expand and drive the adoption of augmented reality (AR) in both the consumer and enterprise sector. Both companies will collaborate on designing custom AR chips and integrating software platforms.
Certainly, this collaboration is likely to have a major impact on the evolving world of metaverse as both companies are believers in the metaverse concept.
Qualcomm said it is working with Microsoft across several initiatives to drive the ecosystem. These include developing custom AR chips to enable a new wave of power-efficient, lightweight AR glasses to deliver rich and immersive experiences, and plans to integrate a software like Microsoft Mesh and Snapdragon Spaces XR Developer Platform.

The global augmented reality (AR) market was valued at $14.7 billion in 2020 and is projected to reach $88.4 billion by 2026 as per industry estimates. The AR market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 31.5% from 2021 to 2026.
