Posted by Tinton Falls, USA: Commvault has expanded its Metallic Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) portfolio with the addition of new SaaS and hybrid cloud workloads.
The company said Metallic is adding new data protection solutions, features, and enterprise workload support. That includes enhanced SaaS application protection with the introduction of Metallic Salesforce Backup and Microsoft Teams recovery enhancements.
Besides, the addition of Oracle and Active Directory to Metallic Database Backup; and the expansion of its hybrid cloud capabilities with HyperScale X as a fully integrated appliance and edge offering for Metallic.
Metallic is now generally available in 23 countries in total, announcing support for nine new countries in the EMEA region today, including Austria, France, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, and Switzerland.

With the addition of Salesforce and Oracle backup along with SaaS Plus capabilities, Metallic solutions offer customers the most comprehensive BaaS solutions suite with backup flexibility for each data source.
“This offers an optimal storage target–whether it be cloud, on-premises storage or the new HyperScale X for Metallic at the edge for ultimate performance with BaaS simplicity,” added Nair.
The rise in both remote work and potential data risk is driving strong demand for cloud-based data protection solutions. “Customers are not only looking at security, agility and functionality to continue routine operations but in many cases, to exceed them,” said Vinny Choinski, Senior Validation Analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group.

New Metallic Solutions includes Metallic Sales Backup, Metallic Office 365 & Teams Backup & Recovery and HyperScale X for Metallic. Also support for Oracle Database and Microsoft Active Directory backup as part of the Metallic Database Backup solution.
