Posted by Bangalore: L&T-Chiyoda Limited (LTC) has deployed Trend Micro‘s security solutions to protect the company’s endpoints and email gateway.
It has successfully implemented Trend Micro Apex One Security across the endpoints. This has provided maximum protection through automated detection and response (ADR).
In addition, LTC has also deployed Trend Micro ScanMail Suite for IBM Domino. It is an on-premises secure email gateway solution to protect against targeted email and spear phishing attacks.
The Vadodara, Gujarat based unit was stated in 1994 as a joint venture between India’s Larson & Toubro Limited and Japan’s Chiyoda Corporation.
Need of a Connected Threat Defense
The company’s major security requirement was a connected threat defense which would provide a holistic and complete security to the entire organization.
And this was made possible with the help of Trend Micro’s security solutions. The solutions have been integrated with third-party perimeter firewall using API, which is providing a comprehensive security.

With Trend Micro Apex Central, the company was able to monitor and act against security findings within the organization in an easy and timely manner.
According to Bihag Acharya, L&T-Chiyoda’s Deputy GM, the rapid change in the company’s business model, mandated the use of a modern and futuristic security solution.
Multiple layers of Security and Protection
“We were looking for a solution that could provide multiple layers of security and protection by use of multiple techniques,” said Acharya.
“These multiple techniques include intrusion prevention, file/URL reputation, machine learning, behavioral analysis, application control, vulnerability management, zero-day threats and ransomware protection along with remediation without manual intervention,” he pointed.
Importantly, Acharya’s major concern was that the solutions effectiveness shouldn’t get change, just because a workload is delivered from cloud.
Low Manual Intervention and High Productivity
Since Trend Micro Apex One solution was implemented, Acharya said that it has significantly reduced the level of manual intervention. And thereby it is having a positive impact on the productivity levels.
“This has freed up approximately 15-20% of the time spent by our employees working in resolving security issues, thereby enabling them to focus the time saved on other critical production related issues,” he claimed.
“Trend Micro’s endpoint solution that uses a cross generational blend of modern techniques, elevated L&T-Chiyoda Limited’s security posture and provided robust protection,” said Vijendra Katiyar, Director – Enterprise Business, India & SAARC, Trend Micro.
“With centralized monitoring capabilities of Trend Micro Apex One, L&T-Chiyoda Limited was able to get a comprehensive view of their endpoints. Also, the vulnerability protection through virtual patching eliminated any inherent risk,” added Katiyar.
Security Plans Ahead
Following this deployment, LTC is further planning to implement Trend Micro Deep Security solution for its servers and Trend Micro Cloud App Security for its planned cloud-based workload.
The purpose-built solution will offer zero security gaps for the company’s on-premises and cloud environments.
