Bangalore: Swiss cabling specialist and passive network infrastructure provider Reichle & De-Massari (R&M) today inaugurated its new production facility at Jakkur on the outskirts of Bangalore. Built for fiber and copper assemblies, this new facility has been set up under the ‘Make In India’ initiative. ‘

The company has invested several million Swiss Francs in establishing this production facility, which in near future will become a primary production and warehousing hub for supplying fiber optic (FO) solutions for data centers and ‘Fiber to the X’ (FTTx) to global markets.

This major strategic move comes after R&M had acquired the business activities and operating assets of city based fiber-optic products maker Advanced Fiber Systems (AFS) for an undisclosed amount in 2014.

It aims to increase the number of high-quality FO assemblies produced in India at optimal cost-efficiency levels to satisfy worldwide demand, and manufacture assemblies for other production plants, thereby contributing to “Make in India.”

“Today we lay the foundation for the next chapter in R&M’s development in India. The facility will bring advanced manufacturing capabilities in delivering a diverse product portfolio to our customers in India and across the Asian region.
