Internet adds 354.7 million domain name registrations in Q2

Virginia, US: Internet adds 354.7 million domain name registrations across all top-level domains (TLDs) in Q2, 2019, as per Verisign data. It is a 2.9 million increase in domain name registrations, or 0.8 percent, compared to Q1, 2019.

Internet domain name registrations have grown by 14.9 million, or 4.4 percent, year over year. Every quarter, the Internet adds hundreds of millions of new domain names.

The .com and .net TLDs had a combined total of 156.1 million domain name registrations in the domain name base3 at Q2, 2019 end, a 1.3 million domain name registrations increase, or 0.9 percent, compared to Q1, 2019.

The .com and .net TLDs had a combined increase of 6.4 million domain name registrations, or 4.3 percent, year over year.

The .com domain name base totalled 142.5 million domain name registrations, while .net domain name base totalled 13.6 million domain name registrations, as of June 30, 2019.

New .com and .net domain name registrations totaled 10.3 million at Q2, 2019 end, compared to 9.6 million domain name registrations at Q2, 2018 end.
