Bangalore: Lenovo to invest $1 billion over three years to expand AI infrastructure solutions to speed up the AI deployments for businesses globally. The announcement comes just a day after Accenture said it will invest $3 billion over three years in its Data and AI practice.
Lenovo to invest $1 billion to advance AI infra solutions
Lenovo said its plans to invest $1 billion in AI infrastructure that will help to expand the company’s AI-ready portfolio of smart devices, infrastructure solutions and services.
The move will enable the use of generative AI and delivering cognitive decisions at scale throughout remote locations across financial, manufacturing, healthcare, retail and smart city applications, the company said in a statement.
Lenovo’s $1 billion investment plan is backed by the company’s record annual AI infrastructure revenue of over $2 billion globally from Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), along with increased digitalisation and demand for IT infrastructure upgrades.
The company’s focus is on simplifying the complex implementation of new AI capabilities by delivering AI to the source of data, harnessing its vast network of best-in-class partners to build next-generation turnkey solutions enabling edge intelligence.
Lenovo’s investment strategy includes an additional $100 million commitment to the expansion of the Lenovo AI Innovators programme. The programme has already delivered a record 150+ cutting-edge AI-ready solutions created with 45 leading ISV partners across its end-to-end ecosystem.
Developed within just one year of the program’s launch, the solutions bring AI from the lab to scale and enable major technology shifts within high-growth sectors. Leveraging AI-ready solutions, customers can more rapidly deploy and leverage cutting-edge AI capabilities, like generative AI, computer vision, prediction, and virtual assistants.
“With our largest-ever investment in AI-ready infrastructure solutions, we are empowering our customers to overcome deployment complexities and unlock the full potential of AI, even at the edge,” said Sumir Bhatia, President – AP, Lenovo ISG
“This significant investment not only demonstrates our dedication to being the most trusted partner in our customers’ intelligent transformation journey but also fuels innovation in AI technology,” added Bhatia.
“In India, the immense potential for AI deployments is evident, fueled by growing digitalization. Our investments in AI aim to simplify complexities and enable businesses to leverage the power of AI at scale. By partnering with ISVs and startups, we are committed to bringing innovative AI solutions from the lab to reality,” commented Amit Luthra, MD – India, Lenovo ISG.
