New Delhi: Mogi I/O, a media-tech SaaS startup has bagged a patent for its buffer-free video streaming technology. Mogi I/O’s buffer-free video streaming tech has received a patent from Indian Patent Office for a period of 20 years.
Mogi I/O’s unique multi-CDN (content delivery network) architecture optimises the fastest video delivery, in a buffer-free way, at the lowest cost.
A content delivery network (CDN) is a group of geographically distributed servers to speed up the delivery of content. By bringing the distributed servers closer to where users are and caching the content in a local server for future reference and use, according to Rahul Lahoria, CTO and Co-Founder of Mogi I/O.
This is how conventional CDNs work. “However, at Mogi IO our biggest learning has been that there is nothing like a perfect CDN. Even the, so-called best CDN networks have a huge band of variability in their performance. This leads to buffering and compromised video viewing experience for the end user,” explained Lahoria.
To address this core issue, Mogi has developed its unique CDN technology, which is able to seamlessly switch between CDNs in real-time for every individual user depending on which CDN is the best performing for a specific user, at a particular point in time, in that geolocation.
“Mogi I/O’s multi-CDN technology will help our customers with a highly optimized video delivery, at extremely competitive costs,” added Lahoria.
According to Zion Market Research’s report, the global content delivery network (CDN) market was around $ 10.9 billion in 2018 and is expected to reach around $24.9 billion by 2025. The global CDN market is estimated to grow at more than 12.5% CAGR between 2019 and 2025.
While, the India content delivery network (CDN) market, according to the Coherent Market Insights report was valued at $ 435.2 million in 2018 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 23.3% during the forecast period (2019-2027).
CDN is a capex intensive business. With the huge surge in video streaming demand globally during the pandemic, video streaming volume is exceeding the CDN capacity.
The situation becomes even more acute during peak traffic hours when the traffic could be five to ten times the average traffic on the streaming platforms. This leads to network congestion & buffering issues and eventually even CDN outages.
Going ahead in future, unless the CDN capacity is increased or there’s a tech breakthrough these network congestions and outages are most likely to continue. Mogi I/O’s patented multi CDN technology is a perfect solution to these issues.
Additionally, there is an inbuilt redundancy in its architecture which ensures that if one CDN has an outage Mogi streaming engine can automatically switch over to another best performing CDN in micro milliseconds
Besides, Mogi I/O’s buffer-free technology, the media tech startup has a second IP that enables AI-based transcoding and compression. This technology compresses videos by 50% better as compared to convention transcoding solutions available in the market, claimed Mogi I/O.
