New Delhi: India server market revenues reached $280.1 million in CY 3Q19 versus $277.8 million in CY 3Q18 according to IDC India’s latest report.
However, overall server market in India witnessed a slim 0.8 % Year-over-Year (YoY) growth in the third quarter ended on Jul-Sep 2019.
According to IDC Worldwide Quarterly Server Tracker 3Q19 released this month revealed that the growth was majorly driven by non-x86 server market. It registered big deals from large public and private banks in India during 3Q19.
The x86 server market in terms of revenue declined 6.1% YoY to reach $239.0 million in 3Q19 from $254.6 million in 3Q18.
Even though the x86 server market had declined, verticals such as banking, government, and manufacturing grew 125.4%, 24.0%, and 3.5% YoY respectively in the x86 server market during 3Q19.
The non-x86 server market increased 77.3% YoY to reach $41.2 million in revenue, in 3Q19.
In 3Q19, HPE has overtaken IBM with a 48.4% revenue share taking the first position in the market.
IBM slipped to second slot with a 45.4% revenue share, followed by Oracle’s 6.1% during 3Q19.
Banking remained the top vertical with a 83.2% revenue share followed by manufacturing and professional services with 9.9%, and 3.1 % respectively, during 3Q19.
In 3Q19, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and Dell Technologies shared the number one slot in the India server market claiming a revenue share of 27.1% and 26.5% respectively.
HPE registered a $64.7 million revenue with major deals coming from telco, government and banking vertical.
Dell Technologies registered a $63.4 million revenue with major deals in banking, manufacturing and telco.
Cisco grew 24.3% YoY to take the third spot and claimed a 10.8% revenue share to reach at $25.8 million in the ended third quarter.
Acer Group with a $6.9 million revenue, stood fourth and earned a 2.9% revenue share pushed by a big win from state ICT development project.
“Despite poor economic performance and deals getting spilled over, we have noticed verticals such as BFSI, government and manufacturing driving the growth of overall server market in India during 3Q19,” said Harshal Udatewar, Market Analyst -Server, IDC India.
Interestingly, India server market has remained a bit inconsistent in 2019 in terms of revenue growth. During the first two quarters revenues increased from $289 million to $350 million but it again fell to $280 million in 3Q2019.
