International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Healthcare Insights domain report states that it is imperative for both, technology providers and healthcare provider CIOs, to understand the potential investment areas as early as possible.
The report ‘India Healthcare Sector: Defining the Path Ahead ’ underlines that the COVID-19 outbreak became a test of resiliency, particularly for the healthcare sector.
The Indian healthcare organisations survived the impact, proving their resiliency through technological adoptions.
In the first instance, efforts were focused to establish accessibility of care. As a result, telemedicine became the front-runner in establishing remote doctor-patient connect.
Moving forward, the Indian healthcare sector will have to leverage the digital acceleration created by the pandemic-related constraints toward remote monitoring and enhanced access to care.
This market note focuses on IDC’s viewpoints on the path ahead for the healthcare organisations in India. Other highlights are:
IDC’s 2020 COVID-19 Impact Survey (Wave 15) showed that 70% of Asia Pacific healthcare organisations are either returning to growth or on their way to the next normal as proof of survival and resiliency.
About 46% of healthcare organisations in the region believed that resiliency is tightly linked with introducing new business model innovation.
“In 2020, the healthcare providers are set to increase IT spend, particularly on technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT). This is the time tech providers prioritize increased collaboration with tech buyers to have a clear understanding of the patient touchpoints to be addressed,” said Manoj Vallikkat, Research Manager – IDC Asia Pacific Healthcare Insights.
“Although technology plays a vital role in successfully designing a solution, moving ahead, tech providers and start-ups should focus on user-friendliness and regulatory compliance in their solutions to ensure acceptability and scalability,” added Vallikkat.
