Bengaluru: India’s largest steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has selected the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform for its Central Marketing Organisation (CMO).
With HPE GreenLake deployment, SAIL will drive digital transformation initiatives and reduce their environmental footprint via the on-premises cloud with capacity available on demand.
SAIL’s Central Marketing Organisation (CMO) is one of India’s largest industrial marketing entities. It is responsible for the marketing of carbon, alloy and special steel products produced by the steel plants of SAIL across India.
The organisation leverages an ERP system running on HPE technology for all business-critical applications and processes from lead generation to shipment. This enables SAIL to deliver quality steel to every corner of the country.
Prior to the HPE GreenLake platform migration, SAIL’s existing infrastructure was reaching the end of life and they needed to prepare for a migration to S/4 HANA and improve application availability and business continuity.
Customer data is one of the most valuable assets for companies and SAIL recognised the importance of protecting and extracting full value from these data being generated across the entire organisation.
They were looking for a cloud experience with a flexible consumption model and capacity available on-demand to be able to handle its constant growth in data but also wanted to keep its data in their own data centre.
HPE Pointnext Services worked closely with SAIL to manage the entire system integration project and full end-to-end implementation of the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform. For the deployment, HPE designed a new architecture based on open standards together with a complete storage refresh.
The HPE team delivered a seamless Unix to Linux migration with minimal upfront investment and application downtime. The deployment has provided SAIL with a new, modernized environment that significantly lowered the data centre footprint.
This has resulted in reduced power consumption and operational complexity, improved operating costs and environmental footprint.
SAIL’s full edge-to-cloud infrastructure for the SAP environment is now ready to meet both the current ERP application requirements and future S/4 HANA workloads.
“We are excited to build on the decades’ long partnership with SAIL as we offer them the HPE GreenLake platform to obtain the best on-premises cloud experience to address their current and future business challenges,” said Som Satsangi, MD – HPE, India.
“Customers are increasingly turning to HPE GreenLake and our extensive system integrator capabilities to design and implement a modernized, end-to-end solution that can support their digital transformation and easily scale to meet future requirements,” added Satsangi.
