Newgen granted patent for a method of managing emails

New Delhi: Indian patent office has granted a patent (No. 365407) to Newgen for its invention of a “method and system for managing and archiving electronic messages.”

The granted patent is valid for a 20 years period, which commenced on May 13, 2009, according to the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970.

Newgen Software is a low code digital automation platform. The company’s technology invention makes e-mail management more efficient by automating email storage, archival, and retrieval. It has built-in mechanisms to facilitate legal discovery.

Additionally, it ensures business continuity and enables seamless collaboration while complying with regulatory norms.

The invention has many features. Including capturing metadata from emails, removing duplicate content, categorising and classifying emails.

Accessing a consolidated view of a complete chain of conversation and saving complex or frequent searches for data retrieval.

Building rules and assigning access rights for tight administrative control, providing anytime-anywhere information access and building comprehensive retention policies.

“For years, our customers have relied on our technologies for digital transformation initiatives. This patent underlines our focus and ability to deliver state-of-the-art products and solutions and further strengthens our content services platform,” said Diwakar Nigam, MD and Chairman, Newgen Software

“This invention will primarily help businesses that deal with large volumes of emails,” added Nigam.

Newgen annually invests 9-10% of its revenue on research and development (R&D) and has a skilled team of about 500 people with deep domain expertise.

The patents further establish Newgen’s leadership in building cutting-edge, industry-specific applications, instrumental in driving digital transformation across organisations worldwide.

Newgen has filed 44 patents so far, out of which 19 have been granted in India and the US.
