Ruckus Networks opens second biggest development centre outside the US in Bangalore

Bangalore: Ruckus Networks, an Arris company has opened a new development centre in Bangalore, which is the biggest facility outisde the US. This new centre, according to Sunnyvale, US – based company will focus on the development of emerging technologies in wired, wireless, Internet of Things (IoT) and smart cities.

“The Bangalore centre has around 300 employees, of which 65% are engineers and 35% are support staff. They are involved in building new products and new features across the range of products. And the centre’s growth in term of people is expected to increase by 50% over the next 2-3 years,” said Pramod Badjate, SVP –Worldwide Engineering, Ruckus Networks.

“The centre will focus on the development of wireless access point (AP) software, ICX switching software, wireless access point platform, smart zone controller and infrastructure development, network analytics software, along with solutions and automation testing capabilities,” added Badjate.

Overall, Ruckus Networks has seven R&D facilities acorss the workd including in the US, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Israel and two in India located in Gurugram and Bangalore.

In terms of support capabilities, the staffs at the Bangalore centre provides support across all company products with 95% of global volume is catered from here, which is around 7000 cases per month, according to Badjate.

He informed that Bangalore facility is responsible for providing major support to customers as well as its entire product portfolio in terms of software and product development.Largely, the company focuses on two verticals — hospitality and telecom including internet services. It also caters to some other verticals names education and government.

According to Sudarshan Boosupalli, Director & Country Head –India, Ruckus Networks, the India operation is the second highest revenue contributor in the APAC region with 80% year-on-year growth.

Biocon, KIMS, Welspun, Adani, WeWork, TVS, OYO, Reliance Jio, Marriot and Hilton are among top customers.It also is involved in some of the Indian’s government smart city projects in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar and Telangana’s Hyderabad.
